The Athlete

  • Only son of tennis great Pancho Segura. Grew up at the BHTC where his father's star power, larger than life personality and legendary knowledge of tennis helped attract Hollywood stars, movie industry movers and shakers , tennis/sports stars and important financiers as friends, members and guests.
  • Spencer developed into a good tennis player He was on the UCLA tennis team from 1971-1974 and captain in 1974. In 1975 his ATP ranking was 195 in the world.
  • After 1 year on the professional circuit, Spencer felt he didn't want to continue on the circuit and he was advised to get a law degree in order to be better prepared to enter into the industry as a sports agent or theatrical agent which is where his interest lay. Spencer’s best friends growing up were Dean Martin Jr., Desi Arnaz jr. and Jimmy Connors ( his Dad’s pupil) As a consequence Spencer felt it would be natural for him to be an agent in that world.
  • Upon graduating law school and passing the bar, Spencer started to practice entertainment law. He was successful very quickly in attracting notable clients such as Joan Collins, Paul Monash (The producer of Butch Cassidy, Carrie and other prominent movies) and Peter Morton the founder of the Hard Rock Cafe.  Soon Spencer tried of being a lawyer and wanted to develop screen plays as a producer. He had two projects that he originated with Paul Monash as his partner. Both projects were developed into screen plays but not pictures.
  • No longer interested in law. Spencer went into real estate development in southern California. He became VP of Land Acquisition for Coastfed Properties/ The Casden Co the largest apt builder in southern CA
